Synopsis:
BASF has been instrumentally involved in the textiles industry for over 100 years. During this period, BASF has been associated with the great innovations in textile processing and the textile value chain which has enabled the industry to manufacture end-user driven products with the minimum consumption of raw materials and the associated costs of production. This process of introduction of market-driven innovation is core to our current and future strategy.
Throughout the BASF Group we constantly challenge ourselves to research and develop solutions that meet the existing and future needs of our customers. For the textile industry we have encapsulated this drive under the phrase - “Putting the *FUTURE into Textiles” and have identified three key areas which need to be taken into consideration together for this *FUTURE:
Consumer Safety.
Resource Saving.
Climate Protection.
In this paper we will examine these fields, explaining each with examples pertaining to the textile industry.
We will also indicate the steps that are being taken to ensure that we remain a committed partner for the sustainable development of the textile industry.
Through this initiative we see that our immediate customers, and the textile value chain will be able to have a committed and reliable partner with whom they will be able to share the visions, and shape the future, of their textile business and the textile industry by “Putting the *FUTURE into Textiles”.
