CV of speaker – James Chrisholm

James Chisholm was born in Peebles Scotland, a long time ago.

He served his apprenticeship as a Textile Dyer and Finisher at Walter Thorburn Bros, studying at the Scottish Woollen and Technical College Galashiels.

Before coming to South Africa, he had experience as Dyehouse Manager at Nith Dyeing & Finishing and Templeton Carpets, weavers of the finest carpets in the world.

He joined the Frame Group in Durban in 1970, running the discontinues fabric dye house for three years. Six years with Romatex, Three years as Dye house manager at SA Fabrics, Twelve years as General Manager National Dye house, Six years Export Manager Texchem, then he founded his Consultancy company Scot Tech Textiles in 2000, he is part of the UK based “The Dye house Doctor “ team, with textile projects world wide. He celebrates 50 years in Textile Dyeing this year.

James Chisholm has served The South African Dyers and Finishers Association since 1970, in many capacities, National and Regional Chairman, Hon National Sectary, Chairman of SYMPOTEX 2004; James is a Honary Life Member of SADFA.

The Society of Dyers and Colourist awarded Mr Chisholm its silver medal in 1997 “For valuable services over a long period to dyeing and finishing education in South Africa.”
