CV of speaker – Shi Xianping

My name is Shi Xianping and now I am working in China National Petroleum and Chemical Planning Institute (formally Chemical Planning Institute of The Ministry of Chemical Industry) as a Vice President. I received my B.E. degree in dyes and intermediates process from Dalian University of Since and Technology in 1982, and MBA degree from Cardiff Business School, Wales University in UK in 1996.

I jointed China National Petroleum and Chemical Planning Institute (NPCPI) as a chemical engineer in 1982 and have been working in this institute for more than 20 years since then. My main technical field is dyestuff production and application. In this institute I was promoted to a group leader in 1988, a deputy division chief in 1992, a division chief and assistant president in 1996, a vice president in 1998. The main business scopes of NPCPI include making medium and long term development plans for Chinese chemical industry at both national level and regional level and providing consulting service to domestic and foreign clients, mainly chemical companies and related institutions.

Besides working in NPCPI, I am also working as a Vice Chairman in China Dyestuff Industry Association.

Synopsis:

The Development of Chinese Dyestuff and Textile Industry

Since 1980’, both dyestuff industry and textile industry, which have certain relationship with each other, have been developing very quickly in China. Both industries have achieved big progress. At present China is the biggest producer, consumer and exporter for both dyestuff and textiles in the world. During about 20 years development, the capacity, products varieties have increased a lot in the two industries. The quality and profitability of products have also been improved. The levels of technologies and equipment have been enhanced. But there are some problems in the development process, like weak R&D ability, some bottle necks existing the stages of finishing and marketing, environment protection and responsible care, energy and resource supply, etc.. In the next 5-10 years both two industries will be further developed. Both the government and companies have made their development plans. Some measures have to be adopted to fulfill the plans.
